Pan-Asian Screen Collective

About the PASC Project

PASC was a group project that we worked together on for 8 weeks. As the team leader, project manager and the lead interactive designer, I felt excited to take on a project for a real client and to gain experience of what it is like to work for a client.
The Pan-Asian Screen Collective (PASC) supports emerging experienced screen practitioners of the Pan Asian heritage in NZ.
PASC came to MDS and asked us to create a new bold and dynamic look to better represent their demographic base, to design a paid membership model with a speciality membership pack with benefits to attract new members and to revamp their dated website with the new branding to create an enjoyable and memorable user experience for the user.

As a group we wanted to ensure our outcome for the brief given to us by PASC was firstly, going to address their needs, to create visually pleasing collateral, focusing on human centred design and ease of use.
Throughout this project we worked closely with PASC. We researched into their target audience and suggested adding a whole new sub class to PASC that allows for both members (collective) and non members (community) to interact with PASC. We analysed their original branding and web design and suggested improvements in the layout typography and colour palette to ensure it was bold and dynamic to suit their wants. We worked closely with PASC to ensure the membership model was something that could integrate well into their business model as well as ensuring the website met their expectations needs and provides a pleasant user experience.

Working closely with PASC in a team environment taught me the differences in how people work and it taught me how fun yet challenging and interesting it was working with a client can be. I also thrived at the chance to optimise user experience through the responsive website I was able to create for PASC.
Together through researching, discussions, problem solving, critical thinking we were able to address the issues PASC brought to us through visual design, prototyping, web design and development with a strong focus on human centred design to advocate for increased Pan-Asian people on our NZ screens - have a look below!
